Blue Card process explained

1. Talk to your Scoutmaster about merit badges you would like to sign up for at MBA.

2. Get a signed blue card. (only - Signature 1 - will be done.)
Make sure you fill in each of the - Merit Badge and Name - sections along with the front page info (Application for Merit Badge).
Section 3 is where your partials or 'completed'  signatures from the Counselor will go.

Partials are good until one's 18th birthday.
A good rule of blue card (thumb) is to complete your partials in a year so they don't become 'forgotten nobody' blue cards.

3. Register for MBA.

4. After MBA, follow up to finish requirements, not noted as partials, in section 3 above.

5. Completed blue cards:
  • Obtain - Signature 2 - from your Scoutmaster (or unit leader assigned to blue card follow ups.)
  • Then give the completed blue card to the designated person responsible within your Troop unit for record keeping/advancement: either Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Advancement Chair, or Merit Badge Dean.
Follow ups enable you, the Scout, to be awarded your merit badge patches.
Did you know there are two colors used on the outside border to denote Eagle required versus elective merit badges?

Can you correctly name the merit badges these patches are for WITHOUT looking them up?
